Two people charged in the August armed robbery of Moncton's La Mine d’Or jewelry store have elected to be tried by a judge and jury, with a preliminary inquiry set for June (Jewelry store robbery case going to trial, wanted man still on the run | Telegraph-Journal). According to its 2025 annual report, TransAqua successfully returned 100 percent of its compost, over 12,000 tonnes, to the local environment, primarily through free pickup by residents (TransAqua returned 100 per cent of compost to earth in 2025: report | Telegraph-Journal). This announcement comes as the facility addresses ongoing odour complaints by exploring costly upgrades and planning a new wastewater heat recovery project for 2026.

Liberal MP Chrystia Freeland announced she is stepping down from Parliament to accept an unpaid role as an economic advisor to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy (Chrystia Freeland will quit as MP, accept Zelenskyy advisor position | Globalnews.ca). She will also leave her position as Canada's special envoy for Ukraine's reconstruction, a move Zelenskyy says will leverage her economic experience to strengthen the country's "internal resilience."
