NB Premier Susan Holt has met with companies planning to build a large explosives factory. NB is a possible location. Reports say it's a billion-dollar project and might create 500 jobs in the region (Holt meets with companies planning massive explosives factory | Telegraph-Journal).

 

The NB gov's plan to privatize large-animal veterinary services is facing criticism from farming and animal-welfare groups. The government says the three-year transition will create a more responsive system. (Concerns mount over N.B. plan to privatize large-animal vet service). 

 

NB has a new rule for recreational fishers: keep certain invasive species (eg. smallmouth bass and chain pickerel) when caught in designated areas. Fishers who release the specified fish back into the water can now face fines (New Brunswick implements new rule for recreational fishers).

  

The NB gov is looking for a company to reopen the former Lake George mine near Fredericton to produce the mineral antimony. The province hopes to create a secure domestic supply of the mineral, estimating the site holds ore potentially worth more than $900 million (New Brunswick government hoping to restart critical mineral mine south of Fredericton - New Brunswick | Globalnews.ca).

 

The New Brunswick government is contributing $3 million toward a new $30-million multi-sport complex at Mount Allison University. The facility, which is expected to open in 2030, will serve both the university's students and the residents of the surrounding Tantramar area (N.B. government gives Mount Allison University $3M toward new sports complex). 

 

New Brunswick is offering a spring COVID-19 booster shot to high-risk individuals, including seniors and the immunocompromised, with the campaign running from April 7 to June 26. The NB Youth Orchestra's performance of "The Hockey Sweater" happens at Tidal Church in Moncton on March 28th. The United States is preparing to deploy additional troops to the Middle East amid the ongoing conflict with Iran. President Trump told journalists that peace talks are underway. Iranian officials have denied that. (Iran war news: U.S. to deploy 1,000 troops this week).

  

NASA has announced it is canceling its plan for the Lunar Gateway space station that would orbit the moon. Instead, the agency will redirect its efforts and a US$20 billion budget to build a permanent base directly on the lunar surface over the next seven years (Back to the moon?
