NB Power is planning a "peak rebate" program that will use smart meters to compensate residential customers for reducing their electricity consumption during high-demand periods (NB Power wants to roll out peak-demand incentives using smart meters | Telegraph-Journal). This initiative was discussed during hearings for a proposed natural gas power plant in Tantramar.

The New Brunswick government has announced funding for a new multi-functional recreation facility and upgrades to the municipal water system in Memramcook (New rec facility, upgrades to municipal water system announced in Memramcook). The province is contributing $6.8 million towards the projects, which have also received $10.1 million in federal funding. 
 
More than 60 New Brunswick arenas began the journey to win the Kraft Hockeyville contest, competing for a $250,000 grand prize for rink upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game (NB arenas compete for $250K Kraft Hockeyville prize | Telegraph-Journal).
