Moncton's city council has approved the master plan for the Station Yards subdivision, an 80-acre project that will create over 4,800 housing units for approximately 9,000 residents over the next 10 to 15 years.

The development, planned in partnership with Shannex, will feature a mix of housing types, from single-family homes to 18-storey towers, along with parkland and walking trails (City approves master plan for Station Yards subdivision | Telegraph-Journal).

 
At its first meeting of 2026, Moncton city council held a moment of silence for the 31 people who died as a result of homelessness in 2025. The council also addressed other civic matters, including an RCMP reorganization, parking for a new science centre, and several development proposals (City council observes minute of silence for homeless who died in 2025 | Telegraph-Journal).
 
Codiac Regional RCMP have arrested a 41-year-old man after reports of counterfeit $20, $50, and $100 bills circulating in Moncton. Police are warning the public and businesses to watch for bills with tampered security windows, which may have dull or misaligned sticker or foil overlays (N.B. news: Counterfeit bills reported in Moncton).

The New Brunswick government is investing an additional $5.8 million in the modernization of the Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick (CCNB) campus in Bathurst. This funding will support the design and preparation for a new building intended to centralize operations and enhance skilled trades education (Government invests in CCNB modernization to support trades education). 
 
More than 60 New Brunswick arenas are nominated for the Kraft Hockeyville contest, competing for a $250,000 grand prize for rink upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game (NB arenas compete for $250K Kraft Hockeyville prize | Telegraph-Journal). Nominations close on March 1, with the winner scheduled to be announced on April 4.
