The Moncton Hospital's pediatric department has unveiled new hockey-themed "Smilezone" spaces, featuring murals, autographed jerseys, and mini Zambonis for children to ride to their treatments (Hockey themed Smilezones unveiled at The Moncton Hospital | Telegraph-Journal). The project was sponsored by the NHLPA Goals and Dreams fund to create a fun, healing environment for young patients.

The mayor of Grand Lake has formally requested that the community be considered as an alternative site for the controversial natural gas plant proposed for Centre Village (Grand Lake wants to be considered for gas plant: Mayor | Telegraph-Journal). However, NB Power stated it had previously ruled out the Grand Lake site due to "transmission constraints," maintaining that the Centre Village location is critical for meeting a 2028 energy deadline. 

A New Brunswick registered nurse has been sanctioned for receiving an intravenous treatment for a hangover, which occurred both while she was off-duty and at the beginning of her shift in an Emergency Department (N.B. nurse sanctioned for using IV to cure hangover | Telegraph-Journal). The Nurses Association of New Brunswick disciplined her for bypassing normal procedures and has allowed her to return to work under conditions that include remedial education.

 

In response to a report on systemic racism, the New Brunswick government is establishing an anti-racism office within the Department of Post-Secondary Education, Training and Labour (N.B. news: Government announces plan to address racism). The new office will monitor and publicly report on the implementation of the report's 86 recommendations, of which the province says 59% are already underway or complete.

  

More than 60 New Brunswick arenas are nominated for the Kraft Hockeyville contest, competing for a $250,000 grand prize for rink upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game (NB arenas compete for $250K Kraft Hockeyville prize | Telegraph-Journal). Nominations close on March 1, with the winner scheduled to be announced on April 4.
