The Moncton Law Courts were evacuated Thursday morning after a bomb threat prompted a large police and fire department response (Moncton courthouse bomb scare prompts evacuation). People were sheltered from the rain in city buses and allowed to return to the building just over an hour later, around 11:05 a.m.


Vitalité Health Network is opening a new primary care clinic in Dieppe on January 19 to serve approximately 2,000 children aged 0-5 who are without a family doctor (New Vitalité clinic to serve 2,000 children without a family doctor | Telegraph-Journal). The referral-only clinic will provide regular checkups and developmental assessments, with the goal of eventually attaching the children to local family health teams. 

 

More reporting on another new power-generating station possibility for NB Power. ICYMI, NB Power has purchased land in the Scoudouc Industrial Park as a potential site for a second generating station. (NB Power's next project 'will likely be in Scoudouc:' VP | Telegraph-Journal). NB Power says the province is facing future power shortages, that's why more power generating options are in the news. It will likely mean higher power bills.

A critical shortage of long-term care beds in New Brunswick is forcing hundreds of seniors to occupy hospital beds, with 450 people awaiting placement at the end of 2025 (N.B. Housing could build long-term care homes faster: David Coon). In response, Green Party leader David Coon is urging the N.B. Housing Corporation to accelerate the construction of care homes, while the Premier has promised a new long-term care plan this quarter.


More than 60 New Brunswick arenas are nominated for the Kraft Hockeyville contest, competing for a $250,000 grand prize for rink upgrades and the opportunity to host an NHL pre-season game (NB arenas compete for $250K Kraft Hockeyville prize | Telegraph-Journal). Nominations close on March 1, with the winner scheduled to be announced on April 4.
