CMA Award Nominations 2024
TL;DR Morgan Wallen got the most noms (7) including Entertainer of the Year... Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert were surprisingly not nominated this year... The article from Taste of Country says Post Malone was snubbed because he only got 4 noms... it also says Nate Smith's "World on Fire" not being nominated was a definite snub. Read the whole snubbin' thing at https://tasteofcountry.com/2024-cma-awards-nominations-biggest-snubs-surprises/ ...
The 2024 CMA Awards will air on ABC on November 20... a couple of the big categories to watch are Entertainer of the Year (Luke Combs, Jelly Roll, Chris Stapleton, Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson) ... Single of the Year (“Tipsy” by Shaboozey, “Dirt Cheap” by Cody Johnson, “I Had Some Help” by Post Malone ft. Morgan Wallen, “Watermelon Moonshine” by Lainey Wilson, and “White Horse” by Chris Stapleton) ... Album of the Year (“Deeper Well” by Kacey Musgraves, “Fathers & Sons” by Luke Combs, “Higher” by Chris Stapleton, “Leather” by Cody Johnson, “Whitsitt Chapel” by Jelly Roll). Look in the Sky, See stuff!
You guys, remember when things like the Northern Lights were uncommon?
Now we've got Northern Lights, Jupiter and Mars, the Milky Way Galaxy, the Perseid Meteor Showers, and secret moon bases!* (citation needed)
1) Jupiter and Mars thing:
"the close conjunction of Mars and Jupiter. In the pre-dawn sky of August 14, the two planets will blaze brightly in the constellation Taurus and stand just 0.3° apart, less than the width of the Full Moon in the sky. The sight will be visible in the early-morning hours; the planets rise together in the east around 1 A.M. local daylight time and reach 45° in altitude in the hour before dawn."

*UPDATE* Ticketmaster Data Breach: Things to know if you use Ticketmaster...
SUMMARY:
Somebody got into the Ticketmaster cloud database and accessed credit card info. Ticketmaster says affected customers should cancel their credit card. If you used a different kind of card, contact your bank. Use two-factor authentication. This impacts customers in Canada, USA, and Mexico. Ticketmaster has been emailing affected people.
*UPDATE:
How to check your credit score https://nomoredebts.org/blog/credit-scores-ratings/how-to-get-a-credit-report-in-canada
Also, Here’s what you can do to spot identity theft:
"Track what bills you owe and when they’re due. If you stop getting a bill, that could be a sign that someone changed your billing address.
Review your bills. Charges for things you didn’t buy could be a sign of identity theft. So could a new bill you didn’t expect.
Check your bank account statement. Withdrawals you didn’t make could be a sign of identity theft.
Get and review your credit reports. Accounts in your name that you don’t recognize could be a sign of identity theft. Here’s how you can get your free credit"
GOOD TO KNOW:
. Ticketmaster is paying for identity theft monitoring for Canadian customers.
. Check if your email has been involved in a data breach at https://haveibeenpwned.com/

How we got here: the Anglo East DEC disagrees with the Provincial Gov's 'Policy 713'... that's the policy centered around gender identity and chosen names or pronouns.
Basically, the education council doesn't want to adhere to the policy because they feel it violates student rights/ the Province wants the policy enforced in schools to protect parent rights (*paraphrase)
Dissolving the DEC is a bit of a process and the Province has put that process in motion... meanwhile (quote from the article) "the DEC is prepared to defend its integrity through all available channels,"

Highlights:
- the two reservoirs Moncton uses are Turtle Creek and Tower Road. The article says they have enough water to last a pretty substantial drought (11 months or something without rain!) (still, please conserve water)
- blue green algae was previously found at the Tower Road reservoir but we have a system to handle the problem.
