Here's a transcript of our morning news:

00:00
Good morning, Tony's out sick today. I'm Scott. Here are some of the stories we're tracking. Got a little bit of ice pellet action in the forecast today. So today's weather flurries changing to ice pellets with a high of minus one. And then we have a special weather statement for Moncton and area. This is about a storm hitting us Wednesday into Thursday, a rainstorm, strong winds, 25 millimeters of rain. Couple other stories. Seclusion rooms in our schools making news. Kelly Lamrock, New Brunswick's child, youth, and seniors advocate says in a report that came out Monday,

00:29
This is a quote, it's time to stop normalizing breaking the law. And he is referring to spaces in schools meant to give students who feel overwhelmed a safe and calm environment outside of their classroom. The gist of this story, my takeaway is that Lamrock says seclusion rooms aren't governed by any current laws and that needs to change. If you want the whole story, that is just my paraphrase, but you can click the link on the Scotty and Tony blog for the whole thing.

00:55
Got a note from Codiak RCMP. They will be at Sobeys on Vaughan Harvey today from four to seven this evening to stuff a cruiser. They collect food and monetary donations. This time around, it's for the Peter McKee Community Center. They do food drives in a number of communities across the province. So if you see them at a grocery store, that is likely what is happening. And also Anglo East fill the bus continues. So every school in Anglophone East is collecting food to help hungry people. And you can...

01:22
Click our Scotty and Tony blog for more details on fill the bus and to queue league hockey, Moncton Wildcats, a couple of games at Avenir Center this weekend, Friday and Saturday. Just a reminder that Friday night, if you're going to the game against Bathurst, it is teddy bear toss night. We'll put a link with more details on the Scotty and Tony blog, Scotty and Tony.com.

Would you know if this Masterpiece was upside down??

Today's date (Dec 4) 1961, Henri Matisse’s artwork called Le Bateau was finally flipped around to be displayed right-side-up at the Museum of Modern Art in New York.
It had been hung upside down for around 46 or 47 days! Stock-broker Genevieve Habert noticed it was  displayed upside down. Something like 116,000 people visited the museum to see the artwork before anyone noticed it was upside down. Even Matisse's son, Pierre Matisse, had seen the exhibit and didn't notice anything wrong.
According to TIME MAG, people didn't believe Mrs. Habert at first... but she "stuck to her guns" and eventually she called the New York Times. After that, the museum finally listened. They were like "Oh hey, would ya look at that, it IS upside down!"

NOTE FROM SANTA CLAUS PARADE COMMITTEE: 'Cancellation Notice: Royale Greater Moncton Santa Claus Parade It is with heavy hearts that the organizing committee of the Royale Greater Moncton Parade have come to the difficult decisions to cancel this year’s parade. Due to the expected heavy amounts of rain and high winds that are forecasted for tomorrow Saturday, November 23rd, the majority of the float entries have withdrawn from the parade. From participants to organizers, the primary concern is the safety of all participants, spectators, sponsors and volunteers, this decision was not made lightly.

Morgan Wallen and Shaboozey have been locked in a battle on the Billboard charts.
- Shaboozey's "Tipsy" was a huge song on Country Radio, it went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100.
- then it wasn't number one, the new Morgan Wallen "Love Somebody" took number 1.
- then this week something happened and Shaboozey went to number one again, and that broke a record.

- Because Shaboozey got back to 1 on the Hot 100, that makes 16 weeks at Number 1.
- so, Shaboozey has one of the longest-running chart-topping songs ever.
Q: Who would win in a wrestling match between Shaboozey and Morgan Wallen?
A: We, the audience, would win in this scenario*

Shaboozey joins a short list of songs that spent 16-or-more weeks at number 1. Via Billboard

Here’s a recap of the five longest-leading Hot 100 No. 1s over the chart’s history:

  • 19 weeks, “Old Town Road,” Lil Nas X feat. Billy Ray Cyrus, 2019
  • 16 (to date), “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Shaboozey, 2024
  • 16, “Last Night,” Morgan Wallen, 2023
  • 16, “Despacito,” Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee feat. Justin Bieber, 2017

ICYMI, Dan + Shay's video for "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" features wobbily rollerblading

Dan + Shay have a new music video for "Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town."
- this is from their new Christmas double-album called "It's Officially Christmas"
- they posted "THE ROLLERBLADING SANTAS are rolling through your neighborhood to remind you... IT’S OFFICIALLY CHRISTMAS"

- Shay also added "I’ve never felt older than I did on those blades," ... "Back of an 80 year old."
- If Santa brings Tony roller blades this year, the first place he'll roller blade to is ... um... maybe the liquor store? directly to the Emergency Room. Scotty's gonna roller blade over to the fridge for a turkey sandwich.

BTW... after the pumpkin contest, I took the pumpkin home and we fixed it up so the whole neighborhood wouldn't be scandalized... (originally just had the "F" and "U") ...

Scary Stats:
- 83% of people surveyed said they had some kind of paranormal activity in their home
- Most common types of paranormal activity are hearing sounds, lights turning on and off, and hearing voices
- 1 in 10 people say they sold their home after a paranormal experience
- Good News, Split Level Home owners, your home is far less likely to be haunted!

A quick and careful look at Ouija Boards...
- Steer clear of those things you guys!
- Legend: Ouija boards got their name when one of the investors of the product asked it "What's your name" and it spelled out Ouija.
- Legend: when they went to get the thing registered at the patent office they had to show the patent office guy how it worked and used it to spell out the patent office guy's name... "A patent file confirms she did a demonstration and the patent was issued on February 10th 1891"
- the things sold like crazy and they had to open more factories to produce them... in 1927 one of the guys running the company fell to his death from the roof of a new factory - one he claimed a Ouija board told him to build.
- Steer clear of those things you guys!
play with whatever this is instead. safer.

Some tips on Candy Hangovers...🍬 If you end up with a candy hangover the day after Halloween, consider eating pineapple... The article we link to says "The tropical fruit contains enzymes that aid digestion and break down proteins that usually cause bloat and also contains 180 milligrams of bloat-busting potassium per cup. Researchers have also found that pineapple can reduce colonic inflammation that may be leading to that distended stomach." https://www.eatthis.com/reduce-bloating-tips/
Other things to try if you have a candy hangover include: 1) have more candy and 2) try someone else's candy to see if it has healing properties. *citation needed*

Some Halloween World Records...
- Most people dressed in certain costume... largest group of zombies was 15458 zombies... scarecrows was 2495... then there were the 2018 skeletons... and the 1607 witches... 1580 superheroes... 1369 vampires... 1275 angels... 878 fairies... 560 ghosts... and 252 dinosaurs.
*editor's note: what if a zombie apocalypse broke out while you were trying to set the zombie record?
world record attempt. artist rendering. or zombie apocalypse?

- Fastest pumpkin carving record belongs to Stephen Clarke who carved one regulation size pumpkin in 9.4 seconds... and also carved a ton of pumpkins in 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 49 seconds!
- most pumpkins smashed in a minute is 52!

- The oldest ghost in the world is a little bit controversial because... some people don't believe in ghosts... but the oldest ghost, unofficially, is 220 million years old. There's a ranch in New Mexico where people reported seeing this sort of snake-like ghost... people reporting sightings... then in 1947 a paleontologist discovered fossils of an animal that looks like the ghost. The animal is phytosaur.

- Most TP Mummies within a 3 minute time limit... In 2015, in London, 51 people got wrapped as toilet paper mummies in three minutes.
- Largest collection of haunted dolls in the world is at the Island of the Dolls, Mexico. Imagine thousands of broken, scary-looking dolls and doll pieces hanging from trees. The article I read says it started in the 1950s and the dolls were placed around the island to appease a ghost... also the legend is that these dolls come to life at night... I will not be investigating that one so no need to hit up our patreon for that.
nope

- Largest Ouija board in the world was 3158 square feet... record was set in 2019... unveiled in Salem, Mass. they called it "Ouijazilla"... the planchette alone weighed 400 pounds!
This Halloween, eat candy instead of summoning spirits. Fewer curses.

And finally... not sure what you're expecting for Halloween this year... but the National Retail Federation says spending for Halloween 2024 will be over $11-and-a-half billion.
