Scotty's Movie Minute: Why You Should Watch "The Bayou"

Scotty

Scotty Note: I recently watched the motion picture "The Bayou" and it was an experience. Should you watch it? Yes. Yes you should. Oh, it's not a good movie, but I believe you'll still enjoy this ride. Let me explain...

- I'm pretty sure that the main characters are supposed to be your average American kids, but the way some of the actors deliver their lines might have you trying to figure out "Is that an accent, or an acting choice?" *Spoiler: I think it's both.
There's nothing wrong with these actors making interesting pronunciation choices, but it wouldn't take much exposition to explain the accents. Maybe these characters are drama students workshopping some accents? Maybe their accents are designed to confuse the gators? I needed more exposition.
**The gators didn't appear to have any accent.

- The film is set in 'The Bayou, USA' but was clearly filmed in the jungles of the Philippines. Note to the jungle: you're not fooling anyone.

- idk if the movie alligators are real gators, costumed actors, CGI, or a combo platter. Sometimes the gator looks real, sometimes it's more of an artist rendering, and other times it looks like a statue being dragged across the jungle floor. Ol' Draggy is my favorite.

✅Scotty Recommends: I think this is a movie that hits the sweet spot of being pretty bad, but fun to watch because of its badness. *Viewer Discretion! Movie has swearing and alligator-induced decapitations.

The Bayou on Rotten Tomatoes does not have enough reviews to be certified fresh.
