icymi, the Province has posted about blue-green algae, just as a reminder that it happens around here and we all need to be mindful of it. It can be really bad for pets and also make people ill, and sometimes you can't even see it. So just a heads-up to watch for posted signs and online warnings this summer and keep your pets safe around the water. How does new tariff threats from USA impact us in Canada? Short version: higher prices on everyday goods would be the worse-case-scenario.

From the article: "... includes... produce, wood and paper products, clothing, electronics, dog leashes, floating docks, swimming and wading pools and even hockey sticks."

note:  50% tariffs on certain Canadian imports to take effect in Aug.

(Trump’s new 50% tariffs means Canadians could pay more for these items - National | Globalnews.ca).

If you bought beef sometime since 2015, you might want to check this out.
Some beef suppliers have offered settlements after some allegations. Basically, it's alleged that some meat companies secretly agreed to make the price of beef too high (paraphrase, not a lawyer.) If the settlement gets court approval (the judge has to decide if it's a fair deal), and you are eligible, there might be some cash in your future. Not yet though. There's a court hearing in September. Too be continued! See: https://www.beefclassaction.ca/
