City closes Irishtown Nature Park reservoir: blue green algae detected.
icymi, blue green algae (cyanobacteria) can be harmful to people and pets. Sometimes you can see it, sometimes you can't. Do not kayak/canoe/etc until the city gives the all clear and do not let your dog near the water to drink/swim/other.

Reminder, it is Camp Day.
On Wednesday July 15, 2026 if you buy a coffee at your favorite Tim Hortons, you'll be helping kids.

Because of Camp Day, young people get a chance to go to a Tim's Camp for some fun and an experience that will carry them forward. These are kids who wouldn't get an opportunity like that if it weren't for Camp Day!
- The easiest way to help is buy a hot coffee or an iced coffee at your Tim Hortons. The money will go to Tim Hortons Foundation Camps to help kids.
- Some places have that Camp Day donut for $2. That money goes to Tims Camps.
- Some places have a badge you can buy, or a bracelet. That money helps the kids as well!
- To donate online see https://timscamps.com/ways-to-give/ways-to-donate/#

icymi, Measles case in Moncton:
*According to officials, no new measles cases have been reported.
The measles exposure warning from the NB health dept was for ppl on Air Canada Flight 1986 from Toronto to Moncton July 7th, or ppl inside the Greater Moncton Romeo LeBlanc International Airport arrivals area later that night/early July 8 (from 12:30a to 3:10a) … also to anyone at The Moncton Hospital emergency department on July 8 from 6a until 12p.
If you think you might've been exposed to measles,
1) check your immunity status (when were you vaccinated?)
2) monitor yourself for symptoms for 21 days ("high fever, cough, runny nose, red/sore eyes, and small white spots inside the mouth. A red blotchy rash typically follows 3 to 5 days later, starting on the face and spreading downward")
3) isolate if symptoms appear (please don't go to the emergency room unless it is an emergency, avoid the doctor's office/ clinic/ school/ or workplace. Instead call 811 to speak with Tele-Care for what to do next.)
Advice from the gov of NB here.

- Provincial/ Regional News

icymi, the Province has posted about blue-green algae, just as a reminder that it happens around here and we all need to be mindful of it. It can be really bad for pets and also make people ill, and sometimes you can't even see it. So just a heads-up to watch for posted signs and online warnings this summer and keep your pets safe around the water. We also have the provincial blue-green algae tracker on our Summer Weather Page at NewCountry969.ca/storm.

icymi, During Miramichi bridge repairs they have HERE's the ferry schedule.

- National News & Beyond

If you bought beef sometime since 2015, you might want to check this out.
Some beef suppliers have offered settlements after some allegations. Basically, it's alleged that some meat companies secretly agreed to make the price of beef too high (paraphrase, not a lawyer.) If the settlement gets court approval (the judge has to decide if it's a fair deal), and you are eligible, there might be some cash in your future. Not yet though. There's a court hearing in September. Too be continued! See: https://www.beefclassaction.ca/

MLB: Blue Jays had some great moments at the All Star Game:
Dylan Cease got to start the game and pitched great. Cease had a mic on the whole time: https://www.mlb.com/bluejays/video/dylan-cease-shea-langeliers-mic-d-up-during-game
Ernie Clement had a pretty amazing defensive play at second base.
Louis Varland pitched in the 8th, allowed one hit, but only needed 11 pitches to get out of the inning.
The American League beat the National League 4 - 0.
icymi, the winners of the MLB All-Star Game will all get a nice bonus of ~ $25,000.

Blue Jays get back to business on Friday vs. Chicago White Sox.
