Police have arrested and charged a 43-year-old man with aggravated assault for the beating of Moncton musician John McLaren outside a downtown venue. NB RCMP searching for a vehicle in connection to a fatal hit-and-run near Oromocto that killed a 19-year-old man. The victim had pulled over due to mechanical issues and was struck by an eastbound vehicle after he got out of his car. Passengers in the pulled-over vehicle were not seriously injured. RCMP think a blue 2016 Mitsubishi Lancer may have been involved. They're looking for a vehicle with significant front‑end damage. NB's latest budget includes a plan to install a toll for out-of-province vehicles on the Trans-Canada Highway near the Nova Scotia border by 2028. The proposal is facing opposition from some in Amherst, NS as residents/ officials argue it will unfairly penalize those who frequently cross the border for work, trade, and healthcare (N.B. news: N.S. border town balks at budget decision). 

 

Doctors and dentists from Moncton have written a letter opposing NB Power's proposed natural gas plant in the Tantramar area, citing significant health and environmental concerns.
