Ways to Help People this Christmas: 2025 edition!

👉 Second Mile Food Bank is a a not-for-profit Food Bank serving neighbors in need in southeast Moncton. See their Facebook online HERE.  

👉 Anglo East School District's FILL THE BUS is about filling a school bus with non-perishable food donations for the food bank. Any Anglo East School is happy to accept your food donation during FILL THE BUS... see this List of Schools and this Facebook post. DONATE ONLINE HERE. Also, if you see a school bus at a grocery store on the weekend, that means volunteers are collecting food donations there!!

 

👉 Moncton Headstart helps kids and families all year. At Christmas they run a Toyland for kids who wouldn't have a Christmas otherwise. You can donate time, toys, or money - see this link https://www.monctonheadstart.com/get-involved/community-outreach/

👉 The John Howard Society of Southeastern NB has a mission to ELEVATE people, EMPOWER change, and ENRICH our community through a number of programs and services. A stat we heard last year is that the JHS SENB helps around 200 unhoused individuals in our area every night. In the past they had campaigns collecting donations of COATS, HATS, MITTS, SCARVES, BOOTS, SOCKS, TOWELS & BLANKETS for those in need.To donate online see https://johnhowardsenb.com/. 

 

👉 Harvest House Atlantic  

helps to feed hungry people, gives people dealing with homelessness a safe place to stay, helps addicted people get healthy, and even teaches skills to help folks get jobs and back on their feet.

👉 YMCA Moncton's ReConnect Street Intervention Program helps at-risk people and people dealing with homelessness. You can give money, gift cards, hygiene products, anything is appreciated! 👉 Salvus Clinic on Church Street helps people who are: 1) unhoused, 2) dealing with poverty, 3) struggling with mental health issues and substance use, and more. You can donate time, money, or products to help people. Click their Facebook link or THIS WEBSITE to donate online.

 

👉 Christmas Food Boxes are a team effort from Feed NB and the Peter McKee Food Centre in Moncton. These boxes help people who depend on the Food Bank. If you or someone you know needs food support CLICK HERE to find some helping resources. Any time you need help with food in Moncton you can also call 506-383-4281 Ext. 1 to make an appointment with the Peter McKee Food Centre (475 Saint George).

3) Donate to our Stuff-a-Bus Toy Drive! This year it happens Thurs Nov27 and Fri Nov 28 from 6a to 6p. All donated toys go to the Salvation Army to help families in our region! Thanks for making this one our most successful ever!

Canadian Blood Services hopes that you will donate blood this Christmas holiday season. The need for blood is constant and the amount that is donated takes a dip at Christmas time. There are hundreds of open appointments at Canadian Blood Services Moncton now through New Years. Also of note: The  #BeccaToldMeTo Holiday Blood Drive happens each year at Christmastime. You can donate in memory of Becca. (To learn more about Becca see this Facebook.) Simply donate blood and say #BeccaToldMeTo.

👉 Lynn's Lights is a way to honor the memory of Lynn Whalen and support Mothers and Babies at Moncton Hospital. Lynn's Lights is a giant lighted Christmas tree. Every donation adds more lights to the tree. Donations support the Obstetrics and Newborn Care Unit of The Moncton Hospital.

👉 St George's Anglican Church in downtown Moncton serves more than 2000 meals monthly. People use their shower facility more than 200 times per month, and their laundry facility more than 150 times per month. St George's also distributes warm clothes to people who spend their days in the cold with no place to go. This all happens because of donations of time, money, or goods. Here is some info they sent us last year... In the past, the St George's Breakfast Program gladly accepted donations of cans of coffee, tetra pack orange or apple juice, and sugar.

👉 This year's Turkey Drive happens Dec 1- Dec 6 at Saint George Blvd Fire Hall across from Centennial Park (800 St George Blvd). It's a "Drive Through to Drop Off" situation and the hours are noon to 7p! (via their Facebook). Donate frozen turkeys, turkey loaves, or cash. You can also donate online at https://www.suestultzturkeydrive.com/ (Every $25 donated equals one turkey on the turkey tally.)
