New Brunswick's auditor general has reported that the Department of Health lacks an effective strategy to address excessive ER wait times, with only 34% of visits meeting performance targets (New Brunswick has ‘no strategy’ to address excessive ER wait times: auditor general). According to a report from New Brunswick's auditor general, nearly half of the province's government-operated highways are in poor or very poor condition, and the province has the highest per-capita road fatality rate in Canada (N.B. news: Auditor general report on highways released). The audit identified a lack of a formal safety strategy and a maintenance backlog of over $204 million, leading to 24 recommendations that the department has accepted.
