Oct 20 is the anniversary of the most famous Bigfoot film of all time, the Patterson–Gimlin film of 1967, Bluff Creek California.
How to Celebrate National Sasquatch Awareness Day:
- Nature Walk: look for clues in the forest. But also, it's still bear season, so... don't look for clues in the forest. (Unless you have a bear proof suit.)
- How about do what I've been trying to get Tony to do for years, next time you go camping, take some scat samples, box the samples up, and send them to: 1) UNB Department of Forestry, 2) Biology Dept at University of Moncton or Mount A, 3) Magnetic Hill Zoo.
*NOTE: maybe call ahead first ... sending unsolicited scat is generally frowned upon.
Sightings near us:
- Highway 2/ Trans-Canada between Moncton and Sackville in June of 2006 - "a credible Class A report was filed by a couple who saw a large, hairy, human-like figure walking across a clearing about 100 yards from the highway" See https://www.sasquatchcanada.com/new-brunswick-sightings.html
- Irishtown Nature Park: has become a "focal point for local enthusiasts". There was a conference there in August of 2024. See the New Brunswick Bigfoot Organization Facebook Group for more. Also see https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/new-brunswick-bigfoot-organization
Scotty note: I know we've got some meteor showers this month, and two different comets, and the Blue Jays have been playing late games, so maybe you don't have the energy reserves for a full-on Sasquatch Search Party. Cut yourself some slack. Bigfoot will still be there after bear, and baseball season. The important thing is to keep the faith.
