Summer 2025 Blue Green Algae Info

The Province of NB has issued a heads-up that we are now in blue green algae season which means we need to keep an eye out for this harmful algae that shows up in some of our lakes, ponds and rivers.
 
- Blooms usually happen when it gets hot out (late spring/ early summer) and sometimes CAN HAPPEN OVERNIGHT!
- not usually visible, but can be sometimes. 
- Some blue green algae/ cyanobacteria produces toxins that are bad for people and animals, so public health advisories are announced when blue green algae is detected in a body of water.
