The Emmy Awards last night had a couple upsets and a couple times where you're like "I've never seen any of those shows..."

Best Drama Series BIG WIN ALERT
Succession wins, beating Better Call Saul, Euphoria, Ozark, Severance, Squid Game, Stranger Things, and Yellowjackets. EVERY SHOW in that category is popular.

Best Comedy Series winner was Ted Lasso, beating Abbott Elementary, Barry, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Hacks, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Only Murders in the Building, and What We Do in the Shadows.
 
Lead Actor, Drama went to Lee Jung-jae (from Squid Game), beating out Jason Bateman (Ozark), Brian Cox (Succession), Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul), Adam Scott (Severance), and Jeremy Strong (Succession).

Lead Actress, Drama went to Zendaya (from Euphoria), beating out Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Laura Linney (Ozark), Melanie Lynskey (Yellowjackets), Sandra Oh (Killing Eve), and Reese Witherspoon (The Morning Show).
 
Lead Actor, Comedy winer was Jason Sudeikis (from Ted Lasso). Also nominated was Donald Glover (Atlanta), Bill Hader (Barry), Nicholas Hoult (The Great), Steve Martin (Only Murders in the Building), and Martin Short (Only Murders in the Building).

Lead Actress, Comedy was won by Jean Smart (from Hacks). Also nommed was Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Quinta Brunson (Abbott Elementary), Kaley Cuoco (The Flight Attendant), Elle Fanning (The Great), and Issa Rae (Insecure).

The battle for late night (Variety Talk Series, really) was won by Last Week Tonight With John Oliver (HBO). Also in the category was The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (Comedy Central), Jimmy Kimmel Live (ABC), Late Night With Seth Meyers (NBC), and The Late Show With Stephen Colbert (CBS).
 
MAJOR UPSET ALERT!!! The Best Competition Series was packed full of quality contenders! Congratulations to Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls (Amazon Prime Video)! Also nommed was The Amazing Race (CBS), Nailed It! (Netflix), RuPaul’s Drag Race (VH1), Top Chef (Bravo), and The Voice (NBC).

White Lotus (HBO) won for Best Limited or Anthology Series, beating out Dopesick (Hulu), The Dropout (Hulu), Inventing Anna (Netflix), and Pam & Tommy (Hulu).

The Best Made-for-TV Movie was Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers (Disney+), beating out Ray Donovan: The Movie (Crave), Reno 911! The Hunt for QAnon (Paramount Plus), The Survivor (HBO), and Zoey’s Extraordinary Christmas (Roku).
