TRANSCRIPT for Season 7, Episode 33, airing on Aug 14, 2026:

Intro Delicious fried chicken cookies? What a weird week. Hi everybody, it's Weird! This is like crazy being here. Weeeird! Really weird, too. Get your big foot piece out of my trash. Well, I got a great show for you today with some wonderful weeeird stuff! Hi friends, I am Scott. It is Friday, August 14th, 2026. This is the show we call What a Weird Week. We're gonna give you 10 fun, weird, or odd stories from this week's news. Interesting stuff. You can get all our show notes on the show notes page, which is shownotes.page.

Number 10: We will link to this story in the show notes. You might want to see the photos and the videos. I'm not sure how enthused you are about the topic. This is outside my wheelhouse. But this is the fellow... Well, the headline from Generation Iron is "Man Who Drank Heavily And Took Steroids Without Working Out Finishes Last In Bodybuilding Debut." This is about a fellow named Peter. Sometimes online as Boozbag Fitness. Peter said, "I will enter a bodybuilding competition, but I will not work out first. I will take steroids and drink booze." And it seems as though that is what Peter did and finished last. Okay, I'm gonna read this almost word for word. I don't know anything about this sport. I don't, you know, I'm not fit. I don't work out. I don't take steroids. I don't drink alcohol. The only reason I'm here is for the weirdness. Peter competed in the Men's Classic Physique Open Class B. The 2026 NPC East Coast Mecca Classic in New York, United States of America. It would seem as though when you see the videos, you don't have to be an expert to realize I believe Peter was making up some poses. While other competitors seem to be doing legit poses. Peter is doing his own thing, perhaps. And I don't know if this is a bit or a stunt or performance art. Maybe it's a combo of all of that. And I'm not sure how you would feel about it. Perhaps if you work very hard and you compete in this sport, maybe you don't feel great that Peter is showing up. And also the article goes on to say Peter, you know, he made the cutoff. He finished eighth and then went out to drink and lost track of time and didn't make it back for the finals. That was another thing. I feel like if you take this sport seriously that could be funny to you or maybe it's if you're the guy next to Peter and you're like, "Wow, you're pretty drunk Peter." Maybe it throws you off your own game. I'm not sure how all that would work. Maybe Peter makes you look better just because you showed up sober. There seem to be a lot of unanswered questions. I will link to all of this in the show notes. I will also say please before you embark on any diet or workout routine such as Peter's "drink heavily and take steroids," please consult your physician before embarking on any sort of journey like that.

Number 9: Okay, number nine is PG-13. Maybe it involves nudity, nude, food, food in the nude. Why didn't they call it foodity? First of all, maybe that's already taken. I can assure you that I am wearing several layers of clothing, but I don't know how comfortable you are with nudity. So heads up, PG-13. This is, we're circling back to this one after last week we had to do a rerun, an emergency rerun episode. So I wanted to circle back to this one which was going to make last week's show. In South Florida, a restaurant is offering a dine while naked opportunity. On select nights, you can dine in the nude. We linked to an article. You can read more about the rules and stuff. I mean, they're trying to keep it clean. It is just for people who like to dine naked. Sure, let your freak flag fly in private on your own time. You do you, that's fine. But this ain't that. I think that's me summarizing kind of the vibe. This is about people who enjoy food in the nude and that's it. The article does have a link to book a table if that's something you're interested in. How do you, if that is something you're interested in, what, how do you, look, I'm trying to play this straight, but where do you put your napkin? I always tuck my napkin into my shirt. What am I going to do? I'm going to need a bib, aren't I? Probably a good idea anyway, depending on the food, some sort of bib. Part of me, I want to know if you've had experience in this. I want to know, do you wear a bib? Hot food? Well, cold food too. You know what? It's okay. You can keep it to yourself about how you manage your nude food. I will link to everything in the show notes. Go to show notes dot page.

Number 8: Number eight is another story. We were going to cover last week. We're circling back to this. We had, in case you missed it, technical issues last week and we had to scrap the episode and do a rerun. We were going to cover the fellow recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. Fellow named Tommy has a record for solving a Rubik's Cube in 11 seconds and something while blindfolded, which did you know that was possible? I didn't. I thought that was a magic trick or maybe superpowers, but Tommy did it and recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records. The official title is fastest time to solve a 3x3x3 rotating puzzle cube while blindfolded. The official time was 11 seconds 11.56. Imagine 11 seconds of your life solving the Rubik's Cube even looking at it. I could never do that ever. But with a blindfold, how do they do that? According to the Internet, you have to study, memorize the cube, then put on the blindfold and then it's all mathematics or algorithm and you solve that thing. 11.56 seconds. That's quite incredible.

Number 7: Number seven from my home country of Canada, Planet Earth, Milky Way Galaxy, the kid who would not sit down and buckle up and so they had to cancel the flight. This would be a parent's worst nightmare. Pretty sure parents show of hands. Yes, worst nightmare. And you can either be like, "Oh, my kids would never do that. Why can't people control their kids?" Or you can be like, "Oh, my kid would do that in a heartbeat. I'm so happy it wasn't me." I feel like I have good kids. God bless my wife. But still, I could see one of my kids doing this. Thank goodness. It has never happened to me because it could have. So yes, this would be a nightmare for a parent, I think, and also for everyone on the plane, including the crew and also for many people in the airport, maybe. A nightmare all around. The article says the parent and the crew tried to get the child to sit down and buckle up repeatedly. And I guess it was just not going to happen. So eventually the parent and the child left the plane. And my understanding is that by the time all this went down and getting the baggage, the parent and the child's baggage off the plane, that took long enough that it was too late for that plane to fly. And so everybody on the plane then had to wait until the next day to catch a new flight. That's kind of it. This happened in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, planet Earth. And this next part is conjecture. I don't know for sure, but I like to imagine a future where someday the parent and the child, maybe they're at a wedding or some family function and they laugh. It's an hilarious anecdote to tell. So funny. But right now it's still a bit too fresh.

Number 6: Number six is the fellow who dressed as the Grim Reaper. Although some reports say perhaps in court it was alleged. No, not the Grim Reaper. A crow. When you see the photo, like my first instinct was this looks like the Grim Reaper. Not a Grim Reaper, but the Grim Reaper. But it turns out it was a fellow in Wales who climbed onto the roof of a hospital dressed in what many believed was the Grim Reaper outfit. And this fellow was staring out at hospital goers. If that's me, I am getting creeped out by that. "Are you here for me, Grim Reaper?" You know, that would be my first thought. "Does anybody else see the Grim? Is it only me who sees that Grim Reaper? Okay, I'm in trouble." You know, that would be kind of my thought process. So it's against the law to do like if they ask you to leave the hospital premises and you do not that's against the law. So this fellow was fined 200 pounds. That's kind of the whole story except I realize I am wearing some sort of elaborate chain system right now around my neck and it is making a lot of residual noise. I realized that will be an issue in post-production. But we're going to go with it this week. I guess you can see the images of what appears to be the Grim Reaper on a hospital roof. If you click our show notes.

Number 5: is a goose hero the story from KHOU 11. The headline is "Honking hero: Fort Bend County family's pet goose alerts them to fire." The goose's name is Goosey which it's a quality goose name. It's a little bit on the nose on the bill, but it's still it's a great name for a goose even more hilarious for like a cat or dog I would say or a turtle come on, but Goosey the goose just like the headline says there was a fire and Goosey the goose starts to honking Goosey saved the day with the honking. There's even some footage of this security cam footage. I mean Goosey smart little fella. He's only about four months old and most of the time he keeps to himself. You want to come in here buddy? You're okay. But early Tuesday morning Goosey made sure his family knew something was wrong. Several honks in the middle of the night a sound the family hadn't heard before. It was all caught on their security camera, their barn on fire and Goosey sounding the alarm. And I just casually came outside and I saw fire bellowing out of there and I grabbed a water hose and ran over there. Quickly he put out the flames. How great is that? That whole story is great. KHOU11, I'll link to all of this in the show notes. I don't want to make light of this because it's kind of hilarious when Goosey the Goose, you know, when you tell the story, that's hilarious. But seriously, people saved. Property saved. Goosey the Goose is legit a hero. A great named honkin' hero.

Number 4: Number four is the limited time offer of KFC and Oreo collabing to make fried chicken flavored cookies. Now I can hope and imagine a world whereby at some point they reciprocate and KFC starts selling fried chicken that is somehow coated in Oreos. That, I hope that's where we're going with this. But I don't know if there needs to be much more to this story. I mean, we could go down the path of why they're doing it and all that sort of thing. But let's not take away from the magical moment that we have right now. Certain places on planet Earth for a limited time you can enjoy Oreo cookies where the flavor is inspired by KFC chicken. I don't want to spoil it with more details because to me that is, I love it that we live in a world where you can buy an Oreo cookie that is flavored like fried chicken. Pretty hilarious. If you want the whole story, we'll link to that in the show notes.

Number 3: All right, this one is a cautionary tale. If you play the lottery or you know someone who does, buys lotto tickets, this one ticks a lot of the boxes of your worst fears. First thing is, do you play the same numbers all the time? I don't play the lotto, but I would imagine playing the same numbers kind of a blessing and a curse because you always know the numbers you're going to play. No stress there. If you ever miss a week and they draw your numbers, oh man, that would suck. Oh, but that's not what happened here. What happened here was maybe worse. So a person who always plays their same regular numbers didn't realize they won, but somebody was like, "Hey, they drew your numbers. You know, you always play the same numbers. One, two, three, four, five, six. You're the one, two, three, four, five, six person. Oh, they drew your numbers." And so that is kind of how that went down. And the person goes to fetch their winning ticket. Very excited, I'm sure. Oh, they threw the ticket out. Oh boy. They threw it out at a store. It wasn't even in their own garbage that they had to go through. They threw it out at a shop. Then they contacted the waste company, like the people who work at the garbage facility or whatever you call it. And God bless those workers. They went through a mountain of trash and found the winning lotto ticket. So scary at first, a lot of anxiety with this story, but then it has a happy ending. The winning ticket was for 1 million euros. That's a lot of money. The sanitation crew went through, it took a couple of days, went through a mountain of trash to find that ticket. It was, when you read the story like they did investigation, it was almost like an episode of Law and Order. I'm not sure if you're familiar, but that is a television program where they have sifted through garbage for clues before. It was just like that, only real life. This occurred in Italy. And there's one other thing I didn't really make it clear, but when the person threw out their winning ticket at the shop, it was because the ticket said non-payable. Like when they checked to see if it was a winner, it said non-payable, but it said non-payable because it was such a huge jackpot. It was like, the store isn't going to give you this money. You've got to cash this in somewhere else. So a misunderstanding led to that ticket getting tossed away. The article doesn't say, first of all, the person who won, anonymous. The article doesn't say if the sanitation workers are getting some sort of reward or whatever, but the cost of the search, like the actual hours put in, the lotto winner is going to pay for that. That's kind of it. You can read the whole thing if you click shownotes.page.

Honorable Mention: We link to the write-up in People. Perhaps you saw it somewhere else, your favorite news source. It's about something that happened in April, but now it's in the headlines because somebody admitted to doing something. In April, in Vermont, they were planning to do a production of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, the musical. And then the show, the production was threatened, received a number of text messages, threatening text messages. To put it in my own words, sure, they say the show must go on, but when you start getting threatened, maybe the show doesn't have to go on. That's how I would sum up what happened in April. But now recently, the musical director of the show admitted to sending the text messages to themselves. They threatened themselves. They wanted the threats out there so that the show would get canceled. So they sent to themselves a number of threats. Then the show got canceled. And I guess the production lost, you know, it was thousands of dollars for this production to be canceled, according to the article. So a couple of things. This is a community theater group. So mostly I think volunteers, but the production still lost money. And the article doesn't get too specific about why exactly the musical director wanted the show canceled and opted for this. I mean, when you think, "I don't want to do the thing that I said I would do. I want to get out of this." There are a number of options and they opted for the sending threats to themselves. Certainly one option. But I need to know more. It seems as though there was some conflict or the musical director maybe anticipated conflict. I'm not exactly sure. You got to kind of read between the lines a bit. I need more clarity because you'd hate to think you're on that production and you're like, "Well, maybe I'm the one. Maybe I'm so terrible that they decided to send threats. They have the show canceled." I mean, let's clear the air. Let's find out exactly. I need a follow up. People Magazine, I need a follow up. I know you're on the Taylor Swift stories and all that, but when you get a minute, please follow up.

Number 2: This is your number two story. Not the fantastic drum beats, the percussion. That is the soundtrack to a video which we will link to. A fellow is making headlines for breaking the Guinness World Record of most hula hoops spun while upside down. A man from China was able to spin 33 hula hoops, actually hula hooping, but upside down. That's a world record. So a couple of things. First, you can't just flip upside down and get all the hoops on and then you're good. You've got to get them spinning for a set amount of time to qualify for this record. I think I don't have the tab open. I want to say it's somewhere between 30 seconds and four years. Keep those hoops spinning. The other thing is this shatters the old world record of 10 hoops. 10 hoops upside down used to be the world record and you'd think, "Well, that's pretty impressive." This fellow did 33 hoops while upside down. It's sort of, at first you think, "Well, that's a funny world record," but it takes a lot of talent to be able to do it in physical fitness and it turns out that's kind of the journey for this world record holder. They started to do the hula hooping as a means of losing weight and then develop the skill and then it was like hula hooping 33 hula hoops standing upright? No way. I'm gonna go for the upside down record and the rest is hooping history.

Number 1: Number one this week is Project Anchor, which if you haven't heard about this conspiracy theory, hold on to your hat, literally, because it's about gravity shutting off. It didn't happen. It is a conspiracy theory that did not happen because we lived through it. We did not float into outer space. Our hats, our hair pieces, our wigs, us, we are all still on planet earth. The conspiracy theory kind of went like this. It had to do with a top secret document and that gravitational waves from black holes were somehow affecting the earth's gravity so that on August the 12th, 2026, the earth's gravity would shut off for seven seconds. That's my summation. The other part of Project Anchor was that there were secret bunkers so that, you know, the important people would be okay in the secret bunkers, the gravity bunkers, and the rest of us would float off and the earth would be, you know, it'd be pretty devastating to not have gravity. At first, for the first two seconds, I would be like this is awesome and then I'd be like oh wait. But anyway, conspiracy theory did not pan out but it got in the headlines because it got circulating and NASA had to explain. "No, no, gravity is still going to work. Gravity's not going to shut off." And then they explained how gravity works. NASA addressed the Project Anchor conspiracy theory. A couple things. So maybe you didn't hear about this because you were distracted by the Perseid meteor shower. I think the peak of the meteor shower was August the 12th and that was also eclipse day around the globe, solar eclipse. So if you didn't hear about Project Anchor, it's okay because here we are with our feet on the ground. And NASA, thanks for taking time out of, like, somebody had to address this. Taking time, they're like, "Bob, will you answer this thing about gravity being shut off? Just, yeah, what are you working on there? Something with hydrogen? Something that's the moon base? You're working on the moon base thing? Well, can you just set that aside and answer the question about, will gravity be shut off on August the 12th? Will you do that, Bob? Thanks." That was my impersonation of the conversation that happened at NASA about Project Anchor.
