***UPDATE FRI MAR 27*** The rocket launch has been bumped (again) from Friday, March 27th to Sunday, March 29th. Launch time is scheduled for 5:15p EDT (6:15p ADT).
Scotty note: I saw one of those Social Media Posts that said we'd be able to see the Starlink rocket launch in Moncton. It seems like that post was being optimistic.
The latest info I found is that it's "highly unlikely, but not entirely impossible under perfect conditions" that we'll be able to see the rocket launch.
- The Starlink mission is launching from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It's been bumped from from Friday, March 27th to Sunday, March 29th. The launch is scheduled for 6:15p ADT (see spaceflightnow.com).
- At publish time, the Weather forecast for Moncton might be clear-ish. (see weather.gc.ca or look out a window.)
- Even with clear skies, launches from Florida are only occasionally visible from the Maritimes, and it depends on the launch trajectory and needs to happen at dawn or dusk when the rocket is high enough to be lit by the sun against a dark sky. TL;DR I am skeptical that we'll be able to see the launch.
