Attention Rocket Enthusiasts:: Once more, Launch is Delayed, Expected to happen Mon Mar 30th/ Link to Watch

Scotty

***UPDATE MON MAR 30*** The rocket launch has been bumped (again, again!) from Sunday, March 29th. New launch window opens at 5:15p EDT (6:15p ADT).

Scotty note: I saw one of those Social Media Posts that said we'd be able to see the Starlink rocket launch in Moncton. It seems like that post was being optimistic.

The latest info I found is that it's "highly unlikely, but not entirely impossible under perfect conditions" that we'll be able to see the rocket launch.

  • The Starlink mission is launching from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It's been bumped from Sunday, March 29th to Monday, March 30th. The launch window opens at 6:15p ADT (see spaceflightnow.com).
  • At publish time, the Weather forecast for Moncton is calling for a lotta clouds (see weather.gc.ca or look out a window.)
  • Even with clear skies, launches from Florida are only occasionally visible in the Maritimes, and it depends on the launch trajectory and needs to happen at dawn or dusk when the rocket is high enough to be lit by the sun against a dark sky. TL;DR I am skeptical that we'll be able to see the launch.
