Metal Detecting Causing Headaches at Fort Beauséjour: Big Fines Possible!

Scotty

Parks Canada is in the news about "unauthorized archaeological activities" or another way to say that is people are digging holes in places like Fort Beauséjour.
A lot of holes.
They think it's people with metal detectors, digging up old things.

Scotty note: until today I had no idea how serious this is! According to the "Canada National Parks Act" you can be fined between $5,000 and $300,000 for doing this!!! Before learning that, I thought it seemed like fun.

Hear me out: what about one day a year where there is a Fort Beauséjour Metal-Detecting Amnesty where you get to keep half of what you find? Maybe it's a bonkers idea but I blame that Oak Island treasure-hunting show for my unbridled enthusiasm.
