how to make it rain... This is the story of Judge Sam King and the drought order:
Judge King was presiding over a case in San Francisco in the 1980s and there were heavy rains... to the point where people on the jury couldn't make it to the court.... so Judge King said: "I hereby order that it cease raining by Tuesday morning. Let’s see how that works."
It did work.California had a pretty substantial, years-long bout of dry weather/ drought.
Then, somebody reminded the Judge: "Hey, Judge King, you made this happen." (paraphrase)
So Judge King made this proclamation: "I hereby rescind my order of Feb. 18, 1986. It is hereby ordered that rain shall fall in California beginning Feb. 27, 1991."
Guess what?! It did start raining. Substantial rainfall!
So we need a Moncton Judge to do this. We need a court order to make it rain.
To our friends in the legal community: today when you're sweet-talking your favorite judge trying to get a search warrant, please also mention this story to that judge and see if they can get us some rain!
