❿Headline: "Every monk in Thai temple defrocked after testing positive for meth"

Notes:
- every one of the monks?!
- they are being sent to rehab.
- there's a lot of cheap meth in Thailand and it infiltrated the monastery.
- my question is who decided to do drug tests at a monastery? 
- Followup question: were they surprised that every monk failed the drug test?

 
 
❾Headline: "Rats blamed for eating 500 kilograms of cannabis stored by Indian police"

Notes:
- if you don't do metric, that's over a thousand pounds of cannabis.
- it was going to be evidence in court, so now what??
- is it possible that drug lords are training rats to to break in and eat the evidence so their case gets thrown out?
- what about your own personal stash? do you have to be concerned about attracting rats now? my neighbor Katherine is gonna need an exterminator on SPEED DIAL!



❽Headline: "Mexican city mixes up world's largest serving of guacamole"

Notes:
- happened at the first annual Avocado Expo©.
- just shy of 11 thousand pounds of guacamole for the record.
- recipe included 10 tons of avocados.
- watch the vid! it looks like a moderate size swimming pool full of guac. fantastic!!






❼Headline: ""Minnesota: 200 anglers rescued from broken ice chunk"

Notes:
- they were fishing on a frozen lake. the lakes are already frozen in Minnesota?!
- the ice chunk broke off and pretty soon they were adrift a hundred feet from shore.
- everybody was OK.
- I guess the rest of us should stop complaining about the cold?

❻Headline: "Swiss Energy Minister suggests people shower together to save power"

Notes:
- Switzerland is trying to conserve energy this Winter.
- one idea came from Federal Councillor Simonetta Sommaruga, who suggested that people take showers together. 
- the full quote from the interview is that people could "turn off the computer when you don’t need it, or turn off lights, or shower together.”
- some people were like "yikes! my virgin ears!!" but the comment did get a lot of attention for Swiss energy conservation.

PG13!! ❺Headline: "After renegade nurse chops off man’s foot, state finds heap of system failures"

Notes:
- So this nurse allegedly cut a guy's foot off without his consent and wanted to have it stuffed and put in her family's taxidermy shop.
- She is scheduled to appear in court on December 6.
- Do not click the link. It is awful. (no offense, Ars Technica)

❹Headline: "Florida woman is suing Velveeta for $5 million, claiming that her instant macaroni didn't cook fast enough"

Notes:
- She says the 3 and a half minutes to prepare, as written on the package, is a lie.
- The lady filed a Class Action lawsuit because she is looking out for all of us.
- I am willing to settle for some delicious Velveeta.




❸Headline: "Flossie, 26, officially crowned world’s oldest living cat by Guinness World Records"

Notes:
- Flossie is a British cat who was born in 1995.
- About to turn 27, that's around 120 in human years.
- Flossie is the oldest cat on the planet, but not the oldest cat ever... that was Creme Puff, who lived to be 38 years old.


❷Headline: "San Francisco police offer more details on plan for lethal robots" or Don't worry, robots to have explosives, not guns, silly!
 
Notes:
- icymi, San Francisco police force said they wanted permission to start using killer robots.
- this upset some people.
- Now they're saying the robots wouldn't have guns... so don't worry.
- Instead, the robots will have bombs or some kind of explosive.
- The cops say it'll stop bad guys from hurting innocent people.
- the robots say "affirmative. we do not plan an uprising. rest easy, human."


πŸ† Honorable Mention Headline:
"Teens build intricate ‘Gingerbread Cathedral,’ get out of writing essay"

Notes:
- the assignment was to write a 3 page essay or build a gingerbread house
- these kids made the news for taking the easy route but then flipping the script and making an incredible gingerbread house. Like, this thing could be at Disney World.




πŸ†Honorable Mention Headline: "6-foot ‘Lobsta Mickey’ statue returns to Boston"

Notes:
- it's a six foot state of Mickey Mouse except Mickey has lobster claws for hands.
- it's an official Disney thing though!? That's weird right?
- it was part of some promotion by Disney... it went away for awhile because somebody bought it, but now it's back to where it became famous: in Boston.
- Now the freaky claw Mickey lives at a sneaker store.




❶Headline: "DNA showed a mother was also her daughter’s uncle — how scientists solved this medical mystery"

Notes:
- Sweet Mama this is a weirdy...
- DNA is a miracle but also kind of incredibly nightmarish isn't it?
- How did DNA test results come back that a lady was a mother, AND and UNCLE to her daughter?
- They think it's because the lady had a twin brother in the womb, but that the twin got absorbed.
- How often does this happen? They haven't been looking that long, so they don't know!
