What a Weird Week: the top ten countdown of weird stories from the news. Check (https://podcast.scottyandtony.com/) for links to all the stories and usual podcast stuff.

10 The couple who have never met in real life and got married via Zoom...
This story came out a few days ago... The lady lives in England and the man lives in Michigan... they met online during the time of COVID... (https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/woman-marries-man-zoom-despite-22210560?ICID=ref_fark)
So far, this sounds like an episode of 90 Day Fiancé... but it's kinda different...
the British lady is 26 and during lockdown she joined this kind of Pen Pal Facebook Group... she talked to a woman on there who was like "Hey, my son is around your age, talk to him!" Love bloomed. They kept trying to meet up in real life... it was quite an odyssey... she got turned back by immigration at one point... so they got married via Zoom.
Dear Hallmark Channel, I know you're busy right now with all the Christmas movies... but please get this on the air as soon as you possibly can... a happy Covid Love Story!

9 The money that started flying out the back of an Armored Truck the other day...
This was in San Diego... the armored truck was on the highway... money started flying out the back of the truck... people pulled over and scooped up the money... to keep for themselves... now the cops are investigating in hopes of getting that money back...
It's still stealing when they're basically throwing it away like garbage? Hmmm... good to know. My defense would be that I thought they were done with the money...
"Clearly your honor, it is natural to assume that the occupants of the armored vehicle were done with the money and decided to throw it away like terrible terrible litterbugs... and my client was simply cleaning up a mess on the highway!"
Here's a great quote from the story: "A man and a woman were arrested on suspicion of taking cash after they got stuck on the freeway with their keys locked in the car, blocking traffic, according to CHP."
SO in all the excitement of wanting to steal the money, they locked the keys in their car.
The cops have been watching videos on social media of people doing the free money highway shuffle© because a lot of people posted videos... it's social media gold.
The cops said you could return the money within 48 hours and you wouldn't be charged...
Every time there's a story like this in the news I wonder what I would do... would I pull over and take as much money as I could grab? Would I lock my keys in my car by mistake and get arrested? Other?
Just to recap, it's still wrong to steal I guess... I keep hoping they decriminalize that, but so far, no.

8 The poor lady in Washington who must drive a car that looks like Mike's car??
Here's the whole story from NBC 4: "A vandal with a bone to pick spray-painted “Mike is a cheater” on an SUV parked in Northeast D.C.
The driver found the huge message on the hood and both sides of the car. The side mirrors were snapped off. The front and back windshields were smashed. Even the license plates were coated with black spray paint.
But it wasn’t Mike’s car.
Veteran Nedra Brantley said she discovered the damage to her red Mitsubishi Outlander Sport on Sunday morning, on 18th Street NE."

7 More drone delivery news: We're slowly getting to that magical place in time where flying robots bring us snacks! Walmart in the United States has teamed up with a drone delivery company so that orders can be droned to our front door! This is happening in Arkansas but I've got to assume that if the drones behave themselves and no one orders a bowling ball which then gets dropped on someone's toe, then this is coming to a store near us all some time...
at first it seemed like a gimmick, now it seems like we're gonna be greeting drones at the front door... What do you guys think the next step will be? Drones that pop popcorn on the way to my house so it's fresh when it gets here? Not bad. What about drones that smite my enemies?? It's fun to think about.

6 The Rolls Royce company has been working on an electric airplane and it just set a world record...
- name of plane is "Spirit of Innovation"
- motor is electric
- it flew over 380 miles an hour which is a new speed record for electric planes
Right now, batteries are too heavy to make electric airplanes feasible, but someday, when the world gets serious about not burning jet fuel, this might save the environment...
The article says these electric planes might be good for shorter distances... but I mean, with a long enough extension cord... Paris, France! Invest in extension cords, you guys!!!!!
BTW, it looks like a nice normal plane, if that's what you're into...

5 Adele rules the world...
Singing sensation, Adele, expressed concerns about how Spotify shuffles songs when you listen to an album... then Spotify turned off the feature/ made it not the default option, really...
I wonder if Adele has that feeling like when you ask for a raise and they say how much and you say three percent and they say yes really fast so then you're like, I wonder if I should have asked for more...
That feeling.
Adele's whole argument was that albums are carefully thought out and the sequence of songs is that way for a reason, so people should listen to the album the way the artist intended...
I secretly love Adele but please tell no one... I might lose my tough guy image.
But why don't artists just put out their album as one giant file then, if they don't want me to skip around to the songs I like... if they want to make it hard for me to listen the way I want to listen to the album that I bought... just release one 47 minute file of all the songs mixed how you want...
Is this too much Adele talk btw, because I can talk about Adele all day...

The Wish website is getting blocked in France!?
If you've never gone to the Wish website before, it is a place to buy cheap and oftentimes counterfeit clothes, electronics and more... am I supposed to say allegedly? Allegedly. Also things that aren't safe.
So in France they are working on getting search engines to block the website... Because of concerns over counterfeiting.
If the folks at Wish adhere to French laws and clean up their act, it can come back. Is that something you think will happen other places? I've ordered from Wish before and it was mixed results... one thing was a trumpet though... a cheap trumpet... it seemed to play Jingle Bells OK... but definitely some other stuff was fake... I never even thought about the dangerous part...

13-year-old girl makes amazing metal detector discovery...
Milly in the UK may have discovered a bunch of Bronze Age axes... the experts thinks that's the story here... Good for you, Milly!
Milly has only gone metal detecting three times so far but she's got skillzzzz y'all...
Here's the quote: "Milly Hardick, 13, unearthed 65 artifacts, including a trove of what are believed to be Bronze Age axe heads dating back to 1300 BC, in Royston, Hertfordshire, in southern England. Archeologists later excavated the area and found more than 200 items."
People go metal detecting all their lives and never find a haul like this... so not too shabby, Milly!
BTW, the British show The Detectorists is pretty great if you want something good to stream.

Inflation ruins dollar store name...
We don't have Dollar Tree stores where I live, but we have other dollar store chains so this is gonna hit us all...
The Dollar Tree has announced that they'll be jacking up prices in the new year to a buck twenty five.
So far they are keeping the name Dollar Tree but you know what's gonna happen... somebody's gonna sue them for false advertising and then they'll hafta change to the Buck-an-a-Quarter Tree" so you should buy that domain name now and sit on it... they'll be looking to buy it from you pretty soon...
*Actually they've tried the name Dollar Tree Plus in some locations and have been selling more expensive things*
