Federal Heavy Hitters in town for Acadian Day:
Prime Minister Trudeau and Conservative leader Andrew Scheer are in town for Acadian Day- they’ll both be at the opening ceremony at 5:00p and marching in the Tintamarre afterwards. Just yesterday Trudeau was officially found in conflict of interest by the ethics commissioner in the SNC-Lavalin situation. (link: https://bddy.me/33BK251)

More Acadian Day:
They’ll be raising the Acadian flag at Moncton City Hall this morning at 9:00a. At 10a there will be a service at Our Lady of the Assumption Cathedral (226 St George) and they’ll be unveiling a plaque there at 11a.
There is a big celebration and concert in Dieppe to celebrate Acadian Day and the World Acadian Congress.

*Note Free Bus: Codiac Transpo is offering free bus service, if you’re going to the party, starting at 5p. “Regular bus service will be free for all routes in Greater Moncton until 11:45p,” and they’ll have special shuttles from the MusiquArt site on Notre-Dame Street in Dieppe starting at 10:30p.

Dowtown Moncton Grass Fire:
Grass fire along Riverfront Trail yesterday after lunch… Times & Transcript’s Tom Bateman says the area on fire was the size of two football fields. Thank you firefighters! This happened around one o’clock yesterday where the old city dump used to be (between Gunningsville bridge and the causeway. Firefighters had to go offroadin’ to get at it. Road Closure Downtown Moncton:
The World Acadian Congress means stuff happening downtown! Also that means street closures downtown near Riverfront Park...
• Closure of the eastbound lane of Assomption Boulevard from Lutz Street to Downing Street from 6 a.m. on Thursday, August 15 until 2 p.m. on Sunday, August 18. Intersections will remain open. Traffic travelling south on Westmorland will still be able to turn right and head west on Assomption or straight into the Press Club.
• Closure of the westbound lane of Assomption Boulevard from Main Street to Westmorland Street from 2:45 p.m. until 2 a.m. on both Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17. Access to Blue Cross parking, Moncton Law Courts, condos, and RCMP station via Mechanic Street maintained.
